Wallasey

Wallasey is a large town on the mouth of the River Mersey on the tip of the Wirral. The town is built up of seven townships (Liscard, Seacombe, Egremont, New Brighton, Wallasey Village, Poulton and Leasowe) these villages all grew into each other when the Queensway Tunnel under the River Mersey from Liverpool opened in 1934. Liscard is the main shopping centre.

The Beatles played some of their first shows outside Liverpool at the Grosvenor Ballroom in Liscard in 1960, and over the next few years they also played several times at the Tower Ballroom in New Brighton. On 12 October 1962 they played there as the support act for Little Richard. Wallasey was also the home base of another leading Merseybeat group, The Undertakers.

A real life rescue at one of the docks in Wallasey. Whilst at a business meeting at Egerton house Wallasey we heard cries of help coming from outside the building. Some hero grabbed the rope and threw it in to save her i of course grabbed my camera
